Disgusted by the conduct of Sharifah Zohra Jabeen

An undergraduate student, Bawani from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) asked in the student forum:
"Why Malaysia can't have free education from pre-school to university first degree?" (She provided example with countries like Argentina and Cuba).

The speaker at the forum, Sharifah Zohra Jabeen answered:
"Don't equate Malaysia with other countries, if you equate Malaysia to other countries, what are you doing in Malaysia? Go to Cuba, go to Argentina, go to Libya, go everywhere."

in which the speaker Sharifah added a statement refering to Bawani:
"Every human in here has had education, and today I am very sorry that somehow you have proven that you the very least of pendidikan [education]..."

Sharifah then gave a vast examples of problems faced the animal kingdom, cattle, goats slaughtered, sharks killed for their fins and asked Bawani:
"Have you ever fought for animal rights?"

Sharifah add on:
"If you are not happy, you are very much suitable to go to another university!"

I am completely shocked and appalled by not the behaviour of the student but rather the conduct of Sharifah. UUM should be proud of a courageous and critical thinking student like Bawani who was brave enough to suggest and to disagree with the speaker-panelist by presenting facts and figures to support her argument; and whichever the university that Sharifah graduated from, I feel sorry and Sharifah gave me the impression that she disagree and angered by people who are not happy with the government. Why so pro-government? Afterall the student only asked why can't Malaysia provide free education from pre-school to university and also disagree that Ambiga Sreenevasan, BERSIH Chairperson (Coalition for clean and fair elections) Malaysia is an anarchist. Why Sharifah is jumping onto Bawani's throat?

Is that what happened in all Malaysian public universities? Students cannot disagree with the government? Students that disagree with government policies should leave the country?

If Sharifah asked me to leave the country if I am not happy with the government, and I shall answer her right to her face:

I will not leave this beloved country and I will remain here to fight from dawn to dusk against your bigoted, narrow-minded, prejudice, intolerant thinking. You have the right to support or defend the government policies, but you have no right to ask a rightful citizen to leave the country.

The conversation was in both the English and Malay Language: Click here for the video.

May God-Almighty open our hearts and minds to see the truth.
